Compℹ︎La, Complexity in Language Variation and Change – a Blog about the Language complexity meeting

Hi All,

this is the blog of the Compℹ︎La meetings, a series of meetings devoted to Language Dynamics, i.e. the study of language done through the lens of complex systems and statistical mechanics.

This year it is the turn of CompILa2024, to be held during CCS2024, the general annual Conference of Complex Systems, which will take place in the University of Exeter, during the week September 2 – 6.

CompILa2024 will be a one-day satellite taking place on September 3rd. We have now a fantastic list of invited speakers and contributing speakers, please visit the CompILa2024 home page for details.

As an unexpected new, on September 3rd, it will be like starting Compℹ︎La2024 at 9:00 (instead of 9:45) because we will have the Richard Blythe, co-organizer of Compℹ︎La2024, as invited speaker, giving a plenary talk in the Auditorium at 9:00 just before the starting of Compℹ︎La2024 !

Maxi San Miguel, Senior Scientific Award 2015 of the Complex Systems Society, Founding Director of the Institute for Cross-Disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems, Medal of the Spanish Physical Society-Fundación BBVA 2010, will open the afternoon session of Compℹ︎La2024 at CCS2024- Sep. 3, 14:45 !

We hope to see you at this long day of language complexity studies !
